Duties: |
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Follow up on unpaid insurance claims in a timely manner.
2. Interact with the public via telephone in a courteous and tactful manner to answer concerns/questions.
3. Utilizing follow up reports, contact appropriate insurance carrier by telephone to determine reason for non-payment.
4. Review internal reports to determine errors causing denial of claims; responsible for correcting information and re-submitting claim.
5. Preview claims prior to release to appropriate insurance carrier.
6. Respond by telephone to requests for information by mail and/or written communication from insurance carriers.
7. Follow internal protocols regarding internal departmental communications
8. Respond in a timely manner to all requests regarding accounts from divisions.
9. Respond to requests from insurance companies.
10. Gather and create agenda for scheduled meetings with insurance carrier provider representative regarding billing and collection concerns, trends, and/or new product requirements.
11. Show evidence of knowledge of insurance payer guidelines and internal collection guidelines.
12. May be required to do follow up on insurance claim appeals.
13. Maintain and respect the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with insurance collection guidelines and corporate policy and procedure.
14. May be required to utilize insurance carrier Internet websites for researching patient benefit eligibility and claim status.

Qualifications: |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to be seated up to 8 hours/day
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding helpful, but not necessary
• Ability to calmly handle stressful situations
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to set priorities
• Exhibit professional phone manner;
• Demonstrate computer skills as evidenced by proficiency and/or training with applicable software
